Grunge Punk
Decided there is no real good reason to hold off on the official title of the book, mostly after reading up on copyright laws. So its been a busy week, I did get a possible cover done for the new Sci-Fi comic which I am calling Grunge Punk. We are past the July birthdays now so a little more breathing room to focus on the comic. Now if it would stop with the heat trying to kill all of us. The weather says a high of 66 tomorrow with rain. That is exciting because I’m apparently a very old man now and just want the opportunity to sit on my porch and listen to the rain, maybe wear a sweater and have some hot tea. Wild and exciting dreams I know.
I probably could make the cover smaller for the purposes of the blog but I am leaving it gigantic. I am proud of the details and the art style. I am still dialing things in and plan on really exploring halftones, screen tones, hatching and stippling to achieve gradients of black and white.
So below is Scrap the main character and his robot AI companion named B.U.6 or Bug. The robot is really just the ball at the core of the body, it has an ability to morph other machinery and build its frame as needed. In the picture below I imagine Bug as being built to be a “tough guy” but they could just as easily have wheels, wings, rotors, or spider legs. The drawing and world building for making this comic is monumental but fun and engaging. I am having fun, I promise.
Art studies are going well though I got distracted yesterday and mostly sketched images of Sho’Nuff from the Last Dragon in a Boondocks style. Sometimes it do be like that.
Grounded 2 came out this week so I have plans on riding bugs and base building. Trying to watch thru the Batman animated show on Amazon that came out. I love Bruce Timms work but for some reason my attention span wanders during that show.
Back on Grunge Punk, I want to design Scrap’s best friend, she goes by Fidget. Discovering I don’t normally draw female characters so I have to study up on that.
Check out the comic this week, Lu & Dag doing what kids do.
Enjoy and thanks for following along
